WELCOME PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!!!!

As I awakened this morning it was very easy. Knowing today was about to be a great day. Today is a different day. A day to look at the past, glance at the present, and see hope for the future. I started watching my local news station chan 5, as I always do, checking on what happened in the viewing area during the night. Checking the weather to make sure the kids will dress appropriately. The temp this morning is 19 degrees, very cold. After a few moments I decided to change the channel to CNN. My favorite political coverage channel right now. They were showing people spread from the Lincoln Memorial Bldg to the Washington Monument in D.C. It was people of all colors black, white, hispanic, and other ethinicities. Everyone was smiling, laughing, waving American flags and "GETTING ALONG". It was an inspirational moment for me. It is not hard for them to drop prejudices and treat each other with respect and kindness. We are from different backgrounds, cultures, and ways of living. But you know we all bleed the same color blood when cut. Even the news media seemed to be excited and jubilant from watching all the people wait. Wait for what, you say? They are waiting for the arrival of the new President-elect. What's his name you ask? Barack Obama! This is the first African-American President. So just so you all will know and get it straight, not twisted. His new name is President Barack Obama of the United States of America. The majority of the people of the nation elected him. That shows great promise that it doesn't matter what color you are. We all have all had enough of the present cabinet in office. We all want a better future for ourselves and our children. Yes we can talk about the economy, gas prices, healthcare issues, and world wars. But we have hope things will get better and by electing Barack Obama as president is the beginning. As he has said for those that did not vote for him, he is YOUR president too.
He will be sworn in at 11am as President of the United States of America. I have to finish this later I am on my way to a Presidential Barack breakfast. Celebrating the inauguration today. Congratulations to us all!!! And God Bless America. Yes We Can!!!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

Oh my how time flies!! Today is my 18th year wedding anniversary. 18 years ago we promised to God ourselves to each other only. But you know how we do, we've been together for almost 26yrs. All I have to say is that it seems like yesterday. Time is never long when you are with your soul's companion. And after 4 kids, dirty diapers, 3am bottle feedings, colds, homemade mother's day and father's day gifts and cards, many many birthday parties, school projects, tons of sports practices and games, and graduations galore from kindergarten to college. With 24yrs of raising kids and still counting it has been worth it. There are lots more to fill in and talk about, but I'm sure you get the picture. Our lives have been a blessing. And we have 4 ways to prove it. So as we celebrate this special day. I am sure we will reminisce about how blessed our lives have been together, the ups and downs. Our good choices, and not so good. Looking forward to another 18yrs together. And the secret you ask? Communication is the key, but marriage is 50-50, sometimes 40-60, and never 20-80. I do know marriages like that and why stay in it I ask? Who knows?
Cause that is not for me, so I guess I just wouldn't be married.
So with all that being said, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO US!!

2008 HOLIDAY SEASON

Wow, it's hard to believe I missed writing during the best month of the year. December! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and remembered the reason for the season. Christmas was at my house as usual. It was a joyous day. I worked Christmas eve so Christmas day was already gonna be a short one for me. I had all my kids at home. This is the first year in 15yrs that we were on a serious budget. So material gifts were dramatically lowered. But the spiritual gifts were cherished and will be everlasting. The economy is crap + our second house hasn't sold = bills are piling up. Living in it 3 days a week is nice. But I won't miss it when it sells. All in all we had a wonderful Christmas being together. We got a Wii for the family and that IS all it's cracked up to be. This game creates alot a family fun. After I played it for a whole day, I couldn't believe how sore I was. I actually thought I had the flu or something. But really it was that I am so damn out of shape. I went to get on the scale, and yes I have gained 6 pounds this holiday season. What a bummer or a bitch depending your mood as you read this. I am gonna start eating better though. ASAP!! Then New Year's Eve came along. We did something new. WE GOT A HOTEL ROOM!!!! The Embassy Suites no doubt. We stayed on the Ambassador Level. Yeah we've been to the Cool Springs location lots of times, but this is the first time we stayed on the Ambassador Level were you have to use your room key to access the floor. I felt so prestigious. But I must say Embassy Suites in Memphis was much nicer. Their Ambassador Level was always stocked with fresh lemon/lime water, fresh fruits, fresh coffee or cocoa, and other snacks. Also our daughter and her boyfriend joined us. We went to the manager's reception that serves drinks and snacks. I tried some new drinks and they were FANTASTIC!! We went to Chili's to eat afterwards. Had a few margaritas, then back to hotel. We each went to our own room and agreed to join up at midnight for champagne toasts. I laid down at 11:45p and thought I will get up in a few minutes. Well long story short, I got up at 3am. Yep you are right we all missed it. My hunny and I was still in our clothes knocked out. And as I managed to get myself to the fridge for a soda, I noticed what a beautiful view we had overseeing the mall lights and scenery. Of course I got undressed and enjoyed the rest of the morning. Well that's the long and short of my 2008 holiday season.

Thanksgiving is already here; who's thankful?

Boy does time fly! I can remember back in August getting my 2 littles ready for new schools and getting my older son ready to return to college. By October my daughter had new eyeglasses and made the Principal's List. I found out my baby boy was the most laziest child on earth. Who did not want to read or write. Put it like this, he was flunking the 3rd grade. Not because he couldn't do the work. He just decided he wasn't gonna do a damn thing in class, and better yet, he was pretending he had done tons of work. Yeah that's right lying about completing assignments given to him from his teacher. Granted his teacher ain't too hip on checking if kids are doing what they are suppose to do while under his watch. I don't mean to sound sexist, but there is something about having a female teacher. I believe it's a sixth sense or something. They just know when a kid ain't doing what he/she is suppose to do. By November I am exhausted with helping him with his homework and making sure he stays on top of things. Sometimes this takes hours and hours. I am constantly saying "honey, you have done your work please turn it in". "Why is it still in your folder?". And the beat goes on to the same ole song, day in day out. They are on holiday break now. Maybe I can get some housecleaning out of them. Shucks they ain't doing nothing else. And lastly the only game I go to of the Tennessee Titans and they lose. So much for going undefeated. They needed this lost so they can put things into perspective. And get off their high horse.
Now with all thats said and done. I AM truly thankful for my kids. I wouldn't trade them for nothing in the world. I am also thankful to have such a caring and devoted husband, who keeps me laughing. A true family man. I am thankful to have a wonderful, supportive family. From my 2 mom's, sister and on down. I am thankful for my job and the unit I work on. You couldn't ask for a better, caring, more supportive group of peeps. Very different from were I came from. THEY make you feel welcome. That's all for now, so Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!!!
