YES, IT IS OVER PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA, A NEW DAY!!!

Well it has been 2 days since the presidential election and America has chosen its first African-American President, Barack Obama. The people have spoken for whom they believe will help begin all Americans economic crisis, war crisis, health crisis, oil crisis and decrease racial barriers. He didn't just win by a margin either it was more like a landslide: 349 electorial votes to McCain's 163(still not enough). And he won the most popular vote 64,058,824 to McCain's 56,500,053. I did look at how my state had voted. I went county by county. The thoughts I had while looking at it will stay with me. But what I will say is, I do realize where I live, and what part of the country I live in. And it is sad that some things haven't changed. No matter who you think your friends are or who you are in the company of "it" is still there. But these days "it" is just more hidden. But no matter who was elected, the road ahead is gonna be a challenge. And it will take more than an instant to fix. The people who put Bush BACK in office should feel shame. He was a nut.
When pres-elect Obama was announced as the new President of the United States I was sitting at home with my family. My mother n law came to watch the election too. We were all so elated!! Everything seemed sooo surreal, unbelievable, a dream almost. We cheered, texted, and called everyone we thought was still awake. I spoke with my father who is 66 yrs old and he was in tears. He told me he never thought he would live to see this day. He began to reminisce about the early 60's when he was a teenager in downtown Nashville and got sprayed with the water hoses. He went on to talk about things that was done "to" us(blacks) and not "for" us. Those days was just ONE of the sad times in America.
I began changing from channel to channel. And noticed the stations were viewing people from around the world. I had no idea that this MAN had such an impact on the world. I have NEVER known the whole globe to take such an interest in our elections. This alone should tell the U.S. people something. I saw people cheering, crying and praying. I felt a unity and bond with strangers. That's how we as a people should all feel. Instead I heard boo's and un-American words at McCain's concession speech. At that moment I thought, the United States have had 43 presidents and I have only seen the last 4. But never once did I hear someone booing the new pres-elect at the conceding speech of the opponent. This was very disrespectful to THEIR new president. And what is that teaching our new generations. To repeat history instead of learning from it? Afterall he is THEIR president too! I continuously heard the question across the airways asking blacks if they thought they would see a black man as president in their lifetime? We all know the answer. Hell to the no! But I would like to flip the question and ask our white sisters and brothers the same thing. Their answer would probably be the same. Then I must say why not? Maybe they don't want to see it or it's not the right time? So when then? You have an American who is very highly educated/intelligent, very articulate, very in tuned to world issues, genuinely loves his wife and kids, and has vision for ALL of us in America to move forward. BUT who just happens to be black. And I ask myself again why not? The only answer is, whether whites want to believe it, admit it or not is they didn't vote for him is because he is BLACK! They cannot see themselves voting for a "black man". This is sooo sad. Blacks have been voting for whites since they fought and died and was hanged for the right to vote. Obama has rare qualifications that even some prior white presidents didn't have. And SOME of which his opponent doesn't have. And NONE of which his opponents VP choice doesn't have. I just don't get it!! Whether democrat or republican, whether black or white, whether male or female. You tell me who is the better choice? In this day and age that is all that matters. Who will make the United States of America a better place to live for ALL.
